A Different Kind of Coach Development

I built this programme for experienced coaches.Not because I believe we need more techniques.But because, over time, I became increasingly interested in the coach.What happens to us when the conversation becomes difficult.When a client becomes emotional.
When they withdraw.
When they become defensive.
When nothing seems to move.These are the moments where coaching becomes less about having the right question and more about how we meet what is unfolding.I've watched excellent coaches become caught in the need to help. To fix. To find the breakthrough.Sometimes we begin working harder than the client.Those moments are rarely about technique.They ask something different of us. Greater awareness. More presence. The capacity to tolerate uncertainty. The ability to notice what is happening in ourselves, in the relationship, and in the wider system.Most coach training quite rightly develops our skills, models and competencies.CIACA is different.It is a programme about developing the instrument that sits behind all of them: the coach.

How You’ll Learn

Every module includes:

Participants bring real material from their own coaching work into the room, creating opportunities to explore the realities and complexities of coaching practice together.There is no role play.The emphasis is on learning through observation, experimentation, reflection and practice.

Programme Themes

Across six months we’ll explore six interconnected themes that sit at the heart of advanced coaching practice.

Relational Presence & Contracting

Moving beyond goals and process to create stronger relational foundations, clearer agreements and deeper engagement.

Gestalt Coaching & Use of Self

Developing awareness of what is happening in the moment, and exploring how the coach’s own experience can become a valuable source of information.

Somatic Awareness & Embodiment

Working with the body as a source of awareness, information and insight, rather than relying solely on cognitive understanding.

Systemic Coaching

Exploring patterns, relationships and wider influences that shape behaviour within teams, organisations and broader systems.

Challenge in Coaching

Developing the capacity to challenge with care, honesty and responsibility, particularly when important issues remain unspoken.

Ethics, Endings & Responsibility

Exploring professional responsibility, boundaries, dependency, endings and the ethical complexity that emerges in coaching practice.

The programme runs across six full-day modules over six months, with each theme building on the last.Participants who complete the programme receive a certificate representing 45 hours of advanced professional development.

Learning Community

Each cohort is intentionally small, allowing participants to get to know one another’s work, challenges and developmental edges over time.The learning environment is thoughtful, supportive and appropriately challenging.There is space for reflection, experimentation and honest conversation.Alongside the faculty teaching, participants learn from observing one another, offering feedback and exploring real coaching work together.Many people tell me that the quality of the group experience becomes one of the most valuable parts of the programme.

How will this program benefit me?By the end of the six months you will have strengthened your capacity to contract and work relationally, to recognise and intervene systemically, to bring somatic awareness into coaching, to experiment with Gestalt methods, and to use yourself more deeply and ethically as an instrument of practice.Will I receive a certificate?Participants will receive a certificate of completion detailing learning hours and modules. These hours can normally be submitted as CPD for ICF, EMCC, AC and APECS re-accreditation purposes.Is there any assessment?No formal assessment is required. The certificate is awarded on the basis of attendance and active participation.How many participants will there be?Places are capped at 12 to maintain depth of learning and a strong group experience.Is this program accredited?It is not accredited at present, but will provide CPD hours towards your accreditation / reaccreditation.Who will teach the program?The program is led by George Warren (Master Accredited Coach APECS, ICF PCC, EMCC Senior Practitioner).Guest faculty with specialist expertise will also join selected modules to provide additional perspectives or demonstrations.Will sessions be recorded?No - the integrity and confidentiality of the group space are important. A summary of key concepts and exercises will be provided after each session.What is expected between modules?There may be light reflective assignments or peer-coaching practice suggested between sessions, but no formal workload.Participants will also be provided with a reading and listening list should they wish to deepen their learning in any of these subjects.
